At Trents people are at the heart of our business, so ‘Here for New Zealand’ means supporting our team, our customers and our communities every day. In order to make positive impacts through our social responsibility, we will strive to supply healthy and affordable food every day, provide meaningful work for our team, support local communities and focus on improving sustainability wherever possible. Being part of Foodstuffs South Island, we are proud to be 100% owned and operated so all profits stay in NZ, and our loyal team genuinely love helping our customers be successful.
We are committed to promoting healthy and affordable food through increasing our range of fresh butchery and innovative plant-based food, providing local and seasonal produce as well as affordable Gilmours, Pams and Value products every day. We strive to offer best possible prices to help our customers provide for their customers.
We recognize we have an important role to play in providing meaningful work for our team. We promote a positive workplace culture where we nurture and extend our people to develop personally and professionally. We will continue to invest in our people through training as well as supporting the ongoing safety and wellbeing of our people.
We love giving back and supporting our local communities. Just some of the organisations we work with as part of Foodstuffs brands include Ronald McDonald House, Presbyterian Support Otago & South Canterbury, Nelson Kai Rescue, City Mission, KiwiHarvest and The Salvation Army, so they can continue their work providing for New Zealanders facing tough times because of the impact of Covid-19. Trents also has a longstanding partnership with Dementia Care NZ and Pillars, a well-established charity existing to create positive futures for the children of prisoners in New Zealand.
We are committed to improving sustainability, looking after New Zealand and our environment and will continue to improve how we work. Our range of sustainable packaging provides environmentally friendly options to our customers. We continue to review our processes to reduce our paper usage, increase our digital footprint and optimise waste solutions in our branches. As part of Foodstuffs South Island, we have signed up to the New Zealand Plastic Packaging Declaration and have added a fully-electric vehicle to our delivery fleet.
